Chennai: Tamil Nadu Minister Vanni Arasu on Tuesday described the escape of 17 inmates from Theni district jail as shocking and said the state government was taking steps to ensure they were apprehended.
Referring to the incident, Arasu said Law Minister Nirmal Kumar had addressed the matter earlier in the day and assured that efforts were underway to arrest the escaped inmates soon.
“The escape of prisoners from a prison is shocking news. They must be caught and imprisoned soon,” Arasu said, stressing the need for swift action.
