Bengaluru, April 14 (IANS) Stating that unemployment is rampant in the state and that the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), which is supposed to conduct transparent recruitment, is mired in irregularities, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said that unemployed youth must take to the streets and fight to secure their rights.
Speaking to the media at the party office on Tuesday, he urged youth to protest against the government without fearing police cases, assuring them that “it is our responsibility to get those cases quashed.”
He stressed that protests should not be limited to Dharwad but must be carried out across the state.
“I am not saying this for political reasons. I am saying this out of anguish after seeing the plight of talented unemployed youth,” he said.
Regarding KPSC, he said he has been closely monitoring developments.
“The Chief Minister keeps saying he will clean it up, but he is still in the process. Meanwhile, KPSC continues to rot,” he remarked, adding that the situation has forced unemployed youth to come onto the streets.
He alleged that those who committed mistakes in KPSC have been let off, while conspiracies are being hatched against others.
“Students across the state must protest against this bad government; otherwise, they will not get justice. The government had promised to fill 60,000 to 70,000 posts, but nothing has happened,” he said.
He also recalled that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had cancelled a KPSC recruitment process in 2011, questioning whether there are no limits to harassment.
“Youth must be prepared and first throw out this bad government,” he added.
Kumaraswamy said he would not remain silent and would raise his voice for the people.
“From now on, I will stay in Karnataka at least two days a week, strengthen the party organisation, and fight for the people,” he said.
He added that the state would not benefit under the current government and claimed that development had taken place only when his party was in power.
He urged people to defeat the Congress in the future to fulfil public aspirations.
Former minister Venkatarav Nadagouda, Greater Bengaluru JD(S) President H.M. Ramesh Gowda, and former MLA K. Annadani were present on the occasion.
