Patna, April 13 (IANS) A major political storm erupted in Bihar’s Gopalganj district after police carried out a high-intensity raid at the residence of JD(U) MLA, Amarendra Kumar Pandey, popularly known as Pappu Pandey, on Monday.
The operation, led by Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari, was conducted at his ancestral home in Tulsia village under Hathua.
Acting on an FIR registered at Kuchaikote police station, which includes serious allegations of land grabbing through forged documents, police teams launched a coordinated crackdown.
Two special teams were deployed simultaneously, triggering panic in the area and sending shockwaves across political circles.
The police conducted an extensive search of the premises, combing through every corner.
However, both the MLA and his brother, Satish Pandey, managed to evade arrest before the teams arrived.
The incident intensified after a court issued arrest warrants against Amarendra Kumar Pandey, his brother Satish Pandey, and their Chartered Accountant, Rahul Tiwari.
The warrants were reportedly issued after investigators gathered substantial evidence linking them to illegal land transactions and alleged patronage of land mafia.
Earlier, four individuals connected to the case had already been arrested and sent to jail, indicating that the police are systematically dismantling a larger network.
According to the FIR, the MLA is accused of providing protection to the land mafia and facilitating them in land deals using forged documentation.
These allegations have significantly escalated the seriousness of the case, prompting direct monitoring from higher police authorities.
SP Vinay Tiwari has confirmed that multiple raids are ongoing and that dedicated teams are actively tracking the absconding accused.
Police officials maintain that arrests are imminent.
Amarendra Kumar Pandey is a four-time MLA from Kuchaikote and has long been considered an influential figure in the region.
However, the scale and seriousness of the allegations suggest that even his political standing may not shield him from legal consequences.
The development has added a new dimension to Bihar’s already charged political environment, with Opposition parties likely to intensify their attacks on the ruling alliance in the coming days.
