Patna Police arrest four in separate operations, foil robbery plot

Patna, Aug 21 (IANS) Patna Police have made a major breakthrough in their ongoing drive against criminals, arresting four accused in two separate operations in the state capital. 

Three suspects were arrested in the Patna East area while allegedly planning to target doctors and businessmen, while the Agamkuan police arrested another man accused of involvement in multiple house burglaries.

East Superintendent of Police (SP) Shailja provided details of the operations and said Patna Police were working round-the-clock to nab criminals and anti-social elements.

In the first operation, the district police received information that a group of criminals had gathered at a house near Doctors Colony under the Bypass police station area, allegedly carrying weapons and liquor and planning a major crime.

Acting on the tip-off, a joint team of the District Intelligence Unit (DIU) and Bypass police raided the premises and arrested Rohit Kumar, Rustam alias Raftaar, and Rohit Kumar alias Mahi.

Police recovered two country-made pistols, one country-made katta, 24 live cartridges, two magazines, Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), two motorcycles and mobile phones from their possession.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that they were planning to rob prominent doctors and businessmen of the city.

Patna Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Arms Act and Liquor Prohibition Act in the Bypass police station in Patna, and the matter is under investigation.

In a separate operation, Agamkuan police arrested Deepak Sahani, who is allegedly involved in a series of house burglaries.

Police recovered 165 grams of gold, around 3.4 kg of silver jewellery, Rs 80,000 in cash, burglary tools and a motorcycle from him.

During interrogation, Sahani allegedly confessed to carrying out thefts worth more than Rs 15 lakh.

Police are now conducting further raids to identify and arrest his alleged accomplices and trace those involved in disposing of the stolen property.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused for robbery.
