Patna, Sep 9 (IANS) A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in Patna for the second time in three days on Wednesday, searching two flats in an apartment complex in the Chitragupt Nagar area.
An eight-member NIA team reached Sai Kusum Infinity Apartment and searched flat numbers 1206 and 609.
According to preliminary information, both flats had been rented in the name of a person identified as Sandeep.
The searches are reportedly linked to the investigation into a petrol bomb attack targeting the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Jharkhand’s Ranchi.
One accused has already been arrested in Delhi in connection with the case, and the NIA team is acting on information obtained during his questioning.
The latest operation comes a day after the NIA conducted a raid at the same apartment complex on September 8.
During Tuesday’s operation, a youth was detained after he allegedly attempted to leave the premises on a scooter upon seeing the NIA and police teams.
Personnel from the Special Task Force (STF) and Chitragupt Nagar police were deployed outside the complex.
Police intercepted the youth and searched his scooter.
A bag containing around Rs 20 lakh in cash was recovered from its storage compartment.
The Income Tax Department was subsequently informed about the cash recovery.
Chitragupt Nagar Station House Officer Shankar Jha said the youth was identified as Anmol Kumar Modi on the basis of his Aadhaar card.
He is reportedly a resident of Ward No. 7 in East Champaran’s Chakia.
Sources also claimed that the NIA detained another youth suspected of involvement in terrorist activities during the previous operation.
According to sources, a person described as “most wanted” was apprehended from Flat No. 609 of Sai Kusum Infinity Apartment and taken into NIA custody.
However, the agency has not yet publicly disclosed detailed information regarding the identities of those detained or the evidence recovered during the searches.
The Patna searches are reportedly connected to an attempted petrol bomb attack on the RSS office in Ranchi’s Nivaranpur area.
According to the police, the incident took place late on June 16 when two unidentified youths allegedly attempted to throw bottles containing petrol into the RSS office premises.
The bottles, reportedly repurposed sauce bottles, fell outside the boundary wall, preventing any major incident. No damage to the office was reported.
The NIA is investigating the case and is examining possible links between individuals in Patna and the Ranchi incident.
