MP: Illegal MD drug factory busted in Mandsaur; materials worth over Rs 25 lakh seized

Bhopal/Mandsaur, Aug 1 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Police continue their relentless crackdown on illegal narcotics and synthetic drugs across the state. In the latest operation, Mandsaur Police have busted an illegal factory manufacturing MD (Mephedrone) drugs, seizing materials worth over Rs 25 lakh.

The haul included MD drugs, large quantities of chemicals, specialised manufacturing equipment, and an unregistered Scorpio vehicle, police officials said.

The raid was conducted by a special team from Sitamau Police Station. Mandsaur Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Meena, Additional SP (Rural) Ram Snehi Mishra and Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Dinesh Prajapati led the operation.

Acting on a tip-off received on the night of July 31-August 1, 2026, the team raided a tin shed located in Dilip Gayari’s field near the water tank on the Manpura-Badavdi Road in Manpura village. Upon the police team’s arrival, the accused present at the site opened fire on the officers. The police retaliated in self-defence while attempting to arrest them. Taking advantage of the darkness, the accused managed to flee the scene.

A thorough search of the premises, however, revealed a fully operational illegal synthetic drug manufacturing unit. From the site, police seized 110 grams of MD drugs, a “Mahindra Scorpio” car, approximately 208 kg of MDC chemicals in four containers, around 117.8 kg of other chemicals, 1.8 kg of a crystalline substance, an electronic weighing scale, a gas furnace, an electric heat gun, a specialised motorised drum, plastic containers, steel vessels, and other equipment used in drug production. The total value of the seized items exceeds Rs 25 lakh, the officials said.

A case has been registered against the accused at Sitamau Police Station under the NDPS Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Arms Act.

Investigation is underway to track down those who fled and uncover the wider network.

This action comes amid the Madhya Pradesh Police’s sustained drive against synthetic drugs.

A few days ago, Mandsaur Police had unearthed a similar synthetic drug manufacturing factory in the district, underscoring the continuous efforts to dismantle such illegal units.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to rooting out the menace of narcotics and protecting society from the dangers of synthetic drugs.
