Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Sets December 31 Deadline for Digital Governance Integration

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed departments to complete all pending work for integrating government services under Mahadbt 2.0, Maitri 2.0 and Aaple Sarkar 2.0 by December 31, ahead of the planned launch of the digital service platform on January 26.

At a meeting held at his official residence, Varsha, Fadnavis stressed the need for coordinated efforts by departments and Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation (Mahait) to make government services accessible to citizens digitally.

He said the state had developed an end-to-end digital platform and emphasised the need for efficient backend systems and process re-engineering. Once implemented effectively, the system could reduce the daily administrative workload of departments by 50% and minimise citizens’ need to visit government offices.

The Chief Minister directed departments to avoid repeated changes to requirements during development and asked Mahait to align technical work with departmental needs. Departments must also issue government resolutions within three days of approval by the high-powered committee.

Integration and testing deadlines

Departments have been asked to integrate external portals with Aaple Sarkar and Maitri by November 30. User acceptance testing, field testing, officer training, user manuals and public awareness activities are scheduled for completion by December 15.

Of 1,222 services reviewed, 723 have undergone rationalisation, including the identification of non-services, obsolete services, urgent services and duplicate or complementary services. Further processes have begun for 467 services across 46 sub-departments, following approval by the high-powered committee.

New initiatives under Mahadbt 2.0

The state has identified 8.9 lakh potential pension beneficiaries through a database-based process. It also plans to integrate verified student sports scores into examination results through coordination between the sports e-certification system and the state education board.

Additionally, 130 schemes run by various corporations will be brought under Mahadbt 2.0. A unified Mahahostel platform is being developed for more than 1,700 hostels across nine departments, alongside a government contract registration portal based on the principle of “One Contractor – One Identity Number”.

Smart service centres to be recognised

Of 32,479 active service centres in Maharashtra, 17,517 have reported meeting certification criteria, while verification has been completed for 12,824. Centres are being classified into four categories based on service volume, operational days, approval rates, citizen feedback and quality.

The government plans to honour centres designated as ‘Smart’ on January 26, 2027.

Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, minister Ashish Shelar and senior officials attended the meeting. Fadnavis said positive feedback from citizens on the convenience and usefulness of digital services would be the true measure of the initiative’s success.
