Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) will bear the cost of restoring roads dug up for pipeline repairs, Water Resources Minister Mathews Joseph has said.
The decision follows complaints over public inconvenience caused by excavation of rural and panchayat roads for pipeline work.
An agreement was reached after discussions with the ministers of the Public Works and Local Self-Government departments.

Under the arrangement, the KWA will pay restoration costs for PWD roads directly to the department, while expenses for repairing panchayat roads will be transferred to the Local Self-Government Department.
The authority will also be responsible for ensuring proper restoration of roads after completing pipeline work.
Joseph said the KWA would pay the repair costs immediately wherever possible, aiming to minimise inconvenience to the public.
