Thiruvalla, Sep 29 (IANS) The Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government of India for their efforts to secure the release of three church members who had been detained at a retention centre in Saudi Arabia.
In a letter dated September 9, 2026, addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, supreme head of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, thanked the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister’s Office for what he described as their “sincere and sustained efforts” in securing the release of Dannaymon, Liju Mathew and Mathew Cheriachen.
The Metropolitan said the church deeply appreciated the “prompt intervention and compassionate attention” extended by the Prime Minister’s Office.
He also acknowledged the efforts and coordination of the Embassy of India in Saudi Arabia, saying the release brought “immense relief and joy” to the detainees, their families and the wider community.
The letter conveyed appreciation to all those involved in facilitating the release and highlighted the role of Indian diplomatic efforts. According to the communication, the release of the three detainees has brought significant relief to their families and the church community.
The Metropolitan expressed prayers for the Prime Minister’s continued service to the country and its people.
“Please accept, Honourable PM Sir, our profound appreciation for your valued intervention and support,” the letter stated.
In conclusion, Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan prayed that God Almighty would continue to grant PM Modi “wisdom, strength, and grace” in his service to the nation.
The communication reflects the appreciation expressed by the Thiruvalla-headquartered Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church for the assistance extended in securing the release of its members from the retention centre in Saudi Arabia.
