Bengaluru: Infosys will hire 20,000 new graduates in the financial year 2026-27, chief executive officer Salil Parekh has said.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Parekh said the company would conduct a special recruitment drive between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027 to onboard 20,000 freshers.
He noted that Infosys has already hired 18,000 graduates in the first three quarters of the current financial year. The company’s total headcount rose by over 5,000 in the last quarter alone, and it expects to complete 20,000 hires by the end of the ongoing fiscal.
Parekh said artificial intelligence (AI) is creating significant opportunities even as it disrupts certain traditional roles.
“While there is pressure in some conventional jobs, we are seeing strong growth in AI-related work. The use of AI agents in software development, customer service and legacy application modernisation is expanding, creating demand for new skill sets,” he said.
According to Parekh, AI has moved beyond the pilot phase and is now being deployed in large-scale projects. Infosys is serving as an AI partner for 15 of its top 25 financial services clients, with several implementations underway in the banking sector.
The company has also raised entry-level compensation to attract candidates with specialised AI skills. Industry reports suggest that annual packages of up to Rs 21 lakh are being offered for niche roles.
Parekh added that robust US GDP growth is prompting large enterprises to step up investments in technology, further supporting hiring momentum in the sector.
