Indian Railways Mega Recruitment Drive; 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot Posts

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced one of its largest recruitment drives for 2026, inviting applications for 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) vacancies across India. The notification marks a major opportunity for candidates seeking a career in the Indian Railways.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must have passed Class 10 from a recognized board. In addition, candidates must have completed ITI in relevant trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic, or Diesel Engine. Those holding a diploma or degree in engineering are also eligible to apply.
The Railways has stated that candidates with strong technical knowledge will be given preference.

Age Limit and Salary

The minimum age required for the ALP post is 18 years, while the upper age limit is 30 years. Relaxation in age will be provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories as per government norms.

Selected candidates will be placed under Level 2 of the 7th Pay Commission, with a basic pay of ₹19,900 per month, along with allowances such as HRA, DA, and other railway benefits.

Application Dates and Procedure:

According to RRB, the online application process for ALP recruitment will begin on May 15, 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications until 11:59 PM on June 14, 2026.
