Gurugram, Oct 17 (IANS) In a shocking incident, a software engineer sent an email to senior officers at his company before allegedly strangling his wife to death and hanging himself in a flat in Gurugram, officials said.
The techie requested his seniors at the company to inform his father and landlord, NDTV reported.
The incident took place on Thursday at an upscale residential society in Gurugram.
According to the police, they received information at around 10:30 am on October 15 that a couple had been found dead in Flat 103, Tower 7 of M3M Marina in Gurugram’s Sector 68. Upon reaching the spot, they found the woman’s body on the floor, while the man was found hanging from a ceiling fan hook.
“The dead couple has been identified as 28-year-old Farhana and 30-year-old Mohammad Aslam. Farhana was from Kerala, while Aslam was a native of Bengaluru. Aslam worked as a software engineer at an IT company in Gurugram Sector 58, while Farhana was a homemaker,” said an official, as quoted in the media report.
The official added that Aslam had sent an email to senior executives at his company, saying that he intended to end his life. He also provided the mobile numbers of his father and landlord, requesting that they be informed. After receiving the email, company officials contacted the landlord and the police were informed subsequently.
However, the couple had died by the time the police arrived at the flat.
Investigators said that a suicide note has been found by the forensic team in the flat, and that preliminary investigation suggests that Aslam strangled his wife, Farhana, before taking his own life.
However, police said that the motive behind the act is yet to be established.
In another case of alleged suicide reported from Greater Noida West earlier this month, a 36-year-old man died after falling from the 12th floor of a residential society, with his family telling police that he had been struggling with depression, officials said.
This came nearly a week after a young man jumped to his death from the 43rd floor of Noida’s Supernova building in Sector 94, sending shockwaves in the area.
The deceased in the Greater Noida West case was identified as Anil Kumar, son of Santosh Kumar, a resident of Ace Divino Society under the Bisrakh police station limits.
During preliminary enquiries, the deceased’s family told police that Kumar had been experiencing depression for some time.
