Lucknow, Aug 5 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the YouTube channel ‘Mohit Sir Gurukul’ for allegedly circulating false and misleading information regarding the results and selection process of the UP Police Constable Recruitment Examination.
The action was initiated after a video uploaded by the channel went viral on social media, alleging large-scale irregularities and scams in the recruitment process, according to official sources.
Acting on the directions of the recruitment board, the FIR was registered at Husainganj police station in Lucknow, they mentioned.
Official sources said that the written examination for the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Direct Recruitment-2025 was conducted between June 8 and June 10, 2026. Subsequently, the cut-off list for document verification and the Physical Standard Test (PST) was released on July 31.
The complaint was filed by Inspector Upendra Singh on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board.
In the complaint, the board described the contents of the viral video as “entirely baseless, deceptive, and intended to cause public panic and mislead candidates who appeared for the written examination.”
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under Sections 221 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with Section 66D of the Information Technology Act.
Officials said that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Earlier, on July 31, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board had announced the results of the written examination conducted for the direct recruitment of Constable (Civil Police) and equivalent posts under the 2025 recruitment cycle.
