FIR against madrasa Trust officials after minor dies in septic tank accident in Rajasthan’s Deeg

Jaipur, July 18 (IANS) Rajasthan police have registered an FIR against the administrators of the Meel Madrasa Trust following the death of a minor girl in a septic tank accident at Meel Madrasa in Deeg district. The case has been lodged under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.

The investigation has been assigned to DSP (Pahari) Amar Singh Meena.

According to the FIR, the accused allegedly endangered the lives of minor students by directing them to enter a septic tank. Meel Madrasa Trust administrators Mohammad Arshad, Rashid, Mohammad Asjad, Rizwana, and other responsible members allegedly instructed minor students to enter a septic tank despite being aware that it contained toxic gas and that the children were neither trained nor equipped to carry out such hazardous work.

The complaint alleges that the students were assigned the task without appropriate safety equipment or precautions, exposing them to a life-threatening situation. These allegations are currently under police investigation.

According to the FIR, several students lost consciousness after entering the septic tank due to the accumulation of toxic gases. They were rescued and rushed to a hospital, where a minor student identified as Rohin later died during treatment. Several other students were reported to be in critical condition and were referred to a higher medical centre for further treatment.

The incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards at the institution and the circumstances under which the students were allegedly assigned the task.

Gopalgarh police have registered the case under Sections 106, 125, 125A, and 146 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act. Police said the preliminary findings indicate the possibility of serious offences.

Investigators are examining all aspects of the incident before determining further legal action. They are seeking to determine who instructed the students to clean the septic tank, who was present at the site during the incident, and whether any safety measures were implemented.

The investigation will also examine whether children at the institution had previously been assigned similar hazardous work. If the allegations are substantiated during the investigation, additional legal action may be taken against those found responsible.

The incident has sparked concerns over child safety, institutional accountability, and the use of minors for hazardous work.

The outcome of the police investigation is expected to determine the next course of legal action.
