Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday directed the police to take strict action against crimes committed in the name of politics and ensure that criminals do not receive political protection.
Addressing the Police Commemoration Day parade at the APSP 6th Battalion Grounds in Mangalagiri, Naidu said law and order was essential for attracting investments, promoting development and creating employment opportunities. He stressed that public welfare, economic growth, jobs and security were closely interconnected.
“Entrepreneurs will come forward to invest only when they feel secure. Investors will not come to regions marked by unrest and insecurity,” he said, adding that maintaining law and order remained his top priority.
The chief minister instructed the police to act firmly against rowdies who harass the public and not adopt a lenient approach towards individuals displaying socially dangerous behaviour. He emphasised that criminals should not be allowed to exploit political connections to evade action.

Naidu called for improvements in the investigation system to keep pace with changing methods of crime, particularly cyber fraud. He warned that cybercriminals were stealing people’s lifelong savings through phone calls, links and messages, with even educated individuals falling victim to such scams.
“Detecting crime demonstrates police capability; preventing crime is the hallmark of excellent police service,” he said, highlighting the importance of preventive policing.
He pointed to the role of CCTV footage, data analytics, drone surveillance and artificial intelligence in strengthening investigations. Naidu also said the Andhra Pradesh Police’s pioneering use of technology deserved recognition at the national level.
The chief minister referred to the Andhra Pradesh Counter-Intelligence unit’s efforts in uncovering plots that posed a threat to national security. He also commended the ‘Eagle’ team for its efforts to curb the menace of ganja and other narcotics.
