BENGALURU: The Renukaswamy murder case, involving actor Darshan and Pavithra Gowda among others, has taken a significant turn with the 59th City Civil and Sessions Court allowing accused No. 14 Pradosh S. Rao to turn approver.
The court accepted Pradosh’s application seeking pardon and permission to become an approver. The order was passed on August 25 by judge Sujatha M. Sambirani.
The court has imposed certain conditions on Pradosh. He will have to remain in custody until the completion of the trial and disclose all facts within his knowledge relating to the case.
The court also warned that if Pradosh conceals any material fact or gives false evidence, the pardon could be withdrawn and he could again be treated as an accused in the case.
Pradosh reportedly told the court that he had decided to become an approver voluntarily and was not subjected to any pressure, influence or coercion. The court had also recorded his responses to several questions before allowing his plea.
Pradosh is believed to have information about various aspects of Renukaswamy’s alleged abduction and murder. His statement could therefore have significant implications for the prosecution’s case and the other accused.
A copy of the court order has been sent to Pradosh through jail authorities. His statement is now expected to be closely watched as the trial progresses.
