Cyclone Arnab: Andhra CM Reviews Situation, 33,000 Coconut Trees Uprooted in Konaseema

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday reviewed the situation arising from Cyclone Arnab from the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) centre at the state Secretariat and held another teleconference with collectors of the affected districts to assess the impact of the storm and ongoing relief measures.

During the review, IT Secretary Kataneni Bhaskar briefed the chief minister on the district-wise situation and rainfall recorded over the past 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall was reported in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema and Kakinada districts. In Konaseema district, nearly 33,000 coconut trees have been uprooted, officials informed the chief minister.

Officials said conditions were gradually returning to normal in most cyclone-affected districts, except Konaseema and West Godavari, where the situation continues to require attention.

Naidu directed officials to take immediate steps to prevent sanitation-related problems and ensure an uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water in the affected areas. He stressed the need for continued monitoring and effective implementation of relief measures to minimise hardship for residents.

The chief minister said he had held four teleconferences since the previous night to review the cyclone situation and coordinate relief and response efforts.

He instructed district officials to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to address emerging issues as the situation evolves.
