New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS) The All India Congress Committee on Wednesday announced a fresh set of organisational appointments with the approval of the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal issued two press releases from the party headquarters at 24 Akbar Road, notifying the appointment of state chairpersons for the “Vichar Vibhag” and state chairpersons and conveners for the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan, all with immediate effect.
For the Vichar Vibhag, Panchanan Kanungo has been appointed State Chairperson for Odisha, SG Nanjayyanamth for Karnataka, Yashpal Kundal for Jammu and Kashmir, and Dr Nidatt P Barot for Gujarat. These appointments are expected to strengthen the party’s ideological outreach and intellectual engagement at the state level.
In a parallel move, the Congress has also named office-bearers for the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan across several states and Union Territories. In Jharkhand, Shantanu Mishra will serve as chairperson while Subhash Nag takes charge as Convener. In Puducherry, Pushparaj has been appointed chairperson and Govindam as convener.
Himachal Pradesh will have Arun Prakash Arya as chairperson and Rajesh as convener. Karnataka’s unit will be led by Anjali as chairperson with Luqman as convener, while in Telangana Geereddy Mahender Reddy has been named convener.
The dual announcements point to the party’s continued focus on organisational consolidation. The Vichar Vibhag is tasked with ideological training and intellectual mobilisation, whereas the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan works to expand the Congress’s presence among elected representatives of rural local bodies and strengthen its grassroots network in the panchayat system.
Party sources indicated that further appointments for other states are likely in the coming days as the Congress intensifies efforts to revitalise its state units.
