Agartala, Sep 17 (IANS) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has said that concept notes and detailed proposals for more than 158 investment projects have been received and directed officials of various departments to work towards grounding all feasible projects within a stipulated timeframe.
Chief Minister Saha on Wednesday instructed the Secretaries and Directors of various departments to prepare a 100-day action plan to ground the feasible projects and said that the Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha would conduct a monthly review of the progress to maximise investment and employment generation in the state.
“The huge investment potential that has opened up in Tripura must be implemented quickly and transformed into employment and economic development. Each investment proposal must be implemented within a specific timeframe by setting specific targets,” he said.
Chief Minister Saha added this while chairing a meeting with officials of various departments to review the implementation and progress of projects for which Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the recent Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.
He said that the main objective of increasing investment is to enhance the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), create new employment opportunities and ensure the socio-economic development of the people of Tripura.
At the beginning of the meeting, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department, Kiran Gitte, highlighted the progress of the MoUs and the potential areas of industry and investment in Tripura.
He also briefed the meeting on various aspects of creating new investment opportunities by utilising the state’s own resources and infrastructure.
The Secretaries of various departments told the Chief Minister Saha about the current status of MoU signing and investment proposals under their respective departments, communication with investors, collection of proposals and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and steps being taken for implementation of the projects.
At the meeting, the Chief Minister said that 458 MoUs involving investments of more than Rs 1.30 lakh crore had been signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.
“Utilising this huge potential, Tripura should be further promoted as an important destination for investment and industry. Priority should be given to various potential sectors of the state, including tourism, health, education, skill development, information technology, renewable energy, agriculture and food processing, fish processing, dairy, livestock and EV charging,” CM Saha added.
He stressed the need to develop industries by effectively utilising Tripura’s natural and agricultural resources and creating value-added products.
CM Saha also directed the officials to resolve issues related to land, power and infrastructure at the earliest to facilitate the implementation of investment projects.
He emphasised the need for regular communication and better inter-departmental coordination with investors and directed each department to appoint specific nodal officers for this purpose.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to simplify and streamline administrative procedures and make them more transparent and coordinated for the convenience of investors.
He said that all departments should set clear targets and ensure that the work is completed within the specified timeframe.
“After signing the MoU, its implementation is now one of the government’s goals. The concerned departments should play an active role in identifying and resolving the problems of investors quickly and taking the projects forward within the stipulated timeframe,” he added.
