Chhattisgarh: Security forces recover huge cache of Naxal arms in Narayanpur

Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh), July 18 (IANS) In a significant breakthrough, security forces have recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, communication equipment, medical supplies, and other Naxal-related materials during a continuous search operation in the Naxal-free Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh.

The Bomb Disposal Squad safely neutralised and destroyed 44 BGL shells on the spot.

Acting on specific information received from an informant, a team of the BSF Battalion (Sonpur) conducted a search in the forest area near Kader village on Friday. The Bomb Disposal Squad inspected the suspected site while strictly following safety protocols.

Upon excavation of the ground, a substantial cache concealed by Naxalites was unearthed, including weapons, ammunition, communication equipment, electronic devices, medical supplies, Naxal literature, and other useful materials.

The recovered items include one .303 rifle, six .315 rifles, one 12-bore gun, two BGL launchers, one five-round .303 rifle magazine, 33 12-bore cartridges, 91 HD cartridges, 46 rimmed 7.62mm .303 cartridges, nine 7.62mm cartridges, two 7.62mm EFC, three fillers, one cocking handle assembly, one zeroing tool, four magazine pouches, one RF detector with accessories, one antenna, two helical antennas, one IED operating mechanism with accessories, one handheld torch, two pull-throughs, 17 rifle slings, one belt, one Naxal uniform, two Honda generator manuals, a large quantity of Naxal literature and letters, one DNS bottle with infusion set, 26 single-use dispo-van syringes, one surgical dressing pad, two pain relief ointments, six 100g Fevicol tubes, one marker, 14 ballpoint pens, seven paper cutters, one crepe bandage, two drill bits, one geometry box, one Naxalite photograph, five toothbrushes, one “Ahuja omnidirectional impedance” device, multiple pen drives of various capacities including 16GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 1TB, 78 memory cards of 4GB to 32GB capacities, one Naxalite banner, one 25-litre plastic drum, one Garmin GPS, and two carbon brushes, said the police officials.

The 44 BGL shells, comprising 24 large and 20 small units, were safely neutralised and destroyed on the spot by the Bomb Disposal Squad for safety reasons and therefore have not been included in the list of seized items. Necessary legal action is being taken regarding the other recovered materials.

Even after Narayanpur district was declared Naxal-free, security forces and police continue to conduct search operations in the area. These efforts aim to recover weapons, explosives, and other materials previously hidden by Naxalites and to further strengthen security while maintaining peace and order in the region.
