Byndoor (Karnataka): More than 1,000 women participated in a mass Varamahalakshmi Vrat and Raksha Bandhan celebration held as part of the ongoing Byndoor Chaturmasya programme, organised under the chairmanship of MLA Gururaj Gantihole.
The programme was held in the presence and blessings of Sri Sri Sri Brahmananda Saraswati Swamiji. Women devotees observed the Varamahalakshmi Vrat collectively, while Bhagina was distributed to participants as part of the celebrations.
Organisers said the Byndoor Chaturmasya programme is gaining significance as a platform to promote Hindu traditions and religious practices at a time when changing lifestyles and social conditions are leading to declining awareness of traditional rituals, particularly among younger generations.
The participation of more than 1,000 women in the mass Varamahalakshmi Vrat added to the devotional atmosphere. Organisers said such programmes help strengthen the connection between younger generations and Sanatana traditions and encourage the preservation of cultural practices.
The Chaturmasya programme has been attracting devotees and religious leaders from different parts of Karnataka as well as visitors from neighbouring districts. With a series of religious and cultural events being organised, the programme has emerged as a major religious gathering in the Byndoor region.
Chaturmasya president Gururaj Gantihole, vice-president S Raju Poojary, convener Shivaraj Poojary, women’s wing president Jyoti Poojary, Anita Maravanthe, Shyamala Kunder, Ramesh Poojary, Narasimha Poojary, religious leaders and local residents were present at the event.
