Bengaluru: A 70-year-old man has alleged that a group of men attempted to encroach upon his property in Yelahanka, while police failed to register an FIR despite repeated complaints. The senior citizen has now approached the city police commissioner seeking intervention.
Abdul Sattar, a resident of Adugodi, claimed that over 25 people arrived at his 7-gunte plot in survey number 29/3 on April 8 and asked him to vacate the land, allegedly on behalf of private firms including Mac Charles Hob Projects Pvt Ltd and Embassy Group. Though police visited the spot and warned the group, Sattar alleged that only a non-cognisable report (NCR) was filed when he lodged a complaint.
According to Sattar, the situation escalated the next day when another group, claiming links to a developer, returned to the site and allegedly threatened him. He said he informed police again and highlighted that the dispute is sub judice. In his complaint to the commissioner, Sattar also alleged that the opposing side was being “escorted by police” to carry out activities at the site.
Long-running dispute
The dispute dates back to 2012, when Sattar entered into a joint venture agreement with Sridhar Reddy for a residential project for Rs 25 lakh. After the project failed to take off, Reddy moved court in 2018 seeking compensation. The court later ordered Sattar to pay Rs 85 lakh.
Sattar, however, alleged that instead of auctioning a different property linked to the dispute, authorities auctioned his Yelahanka land (survey number 29/3), which he claims is unrelated to the case. The land was reportedly sold during the Covid period for Rs 2.4 crore to Dayakar Reddy.
He further claimed that the property was subsequently transferred to a private firm in 2022 for Rs 5.36 crore and later mortgaged for a loan of Rs 32 crore in 2023.
Sattar has accused Sridhar Reddy and others of cheating and breach of trust, and has urged police to register a case and probe the alleged irregularities in the auction and subsequent transactions.
