Imphal, May 22 (IANS) Reaffirming its commitment to guiding the local populace, particularly the younger generation, towards peace, progress and harmony, the Assam Rifles organised a series of community outreach initiatives across Manipur, officials said on Friday.
A Defence spokesperson said that the outreach activities, conducted on Thursday and Friday, were aimed at inspiring the youth to pursue education, make informed career choices and adopt healthy and disciplined lifestyles.
The initiatives also sought to strengthen trust and goodwill between the security forces and local communities.
On Thursday, Assam Rifles personnel conducted an outreach programme at Thanlon in Pherzawl district, a remote village located around 130 km from the hilly district headquarters of Churachandpur. According to the spokesman, nearly 200 local residents, including students and youths, participated enthusiastically in the programme.
During the event, a senior Assam Rifles official interacted with village elders and community leaders to discuss issues related to regional development, education and opportunities for the youth. A motivational session was also organised for students, encouraging them to work hard, remain disciplined and contribute positively towards society and nation-building.
To foster sportsmanship, teamwork and unity among the younger generation, an exhibition football match for both boys and girls was organised as part of the outreach initiative.
The spokesman said that the local residents expressed appreciation for the efforts undertaken by Assam Rifles and conveyed a strong sense of comfort, confidence and security arising out of such engagements.
Continuing the initiative on Friday, Assam Rifles organised an interactive programme for around 200 students of Hill Academy at Phaibem village in Churachandpur district.
The programme featured a display of military equipment and gear, which generated considerable curiosity and enthusiasm among the students and offered them a better understanding of the functioning of the security forces.
The event was followed by the screening of the inspirational film “IKKIS”, aimed at instilling values of patriotism, discipline, courage and dedication among the students.
To ensure smooth participation, the Assam Rifles also arranged safe transportation facilities for the students, a gesture that further strengthened community trust and cooperation.
Meanwhile, at Assam Rifles Public School in New Keithelmanbi, a vibrant yoga session was organised for 75 students as part of the build-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga.
Trained instructors guided the students through various yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation techniques, highlighting the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being and stress management in everyday life.
Through these sustained and meaningful outreach initiatives, the Assam Rifles continues to motivate and empower young minds while reinforcing mutual trust, harmony and goodwill with the people of Manipur.
