Jackie Shroff remembers legendary actor Jeevan on his 39th death anniversary: ‘Always in our hearts’

Mumbai, June 10 (IANS) Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, on June 10, paid tribute to legendary Bollywood actor Jeevan on his 39th death anniversary on Tuesday.

Taking to his social media account, Jackie shared a black-and-white photograph of the late actor along with a heartfelt note remembering one of Hindi cinema’s most memorable character actors.

The story featured a portrait of Jeevan and read, “Jeevan ji. Always in our hearts.”

The post also mentioned the actor’s birth and death dates, ‘October 24, 1915, to June 10, 1987’ marking the actor’s 39th death anniversary.

For the uninitiated, Jeevan, whose real name was Omkar Nath Dhar, remains one of the most iconic faces of Indian cinema.

Over a career spanning nearly five decades, he appeared in more than 250 films and became particularly famous for portraying the role of ‘Narad Muni’ in many mythological films. He went on to become the most sought-after character actors of the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s era of Bollywood.

Some of his notable films include ‘Naya Daur’, ‘Kanoon’, ‘Johny Mera Naam’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Heer Raanjha’, ‘Suraj’, ‘Afsana’, ‘Mela’ and ‘Laawaris’.

Jeevan’s legacy continues through his family as well. His son, Kiran Kumar, went on to become a well-known actor in Hindi cinema and television.

Talking about Jackie Shroff, on the work front, he was recently seen in the movie The Great Grand Superhero: The Arrival of Aliens

The actor is also the father of actor Tiger Shroff and entrepreneur-social media personality Krishna Shroff.
