Bengaluru: A new ₹156-crore Technology Centre aimed at strengthening advanced manufacturing and industry-ready skills in electronics and aerospace is set to be inaugurated at Devanahalli on September 10.
Union Minister of State for MSME Sushri Shobha Karandlaje will inaugurate the facility, developed by the Ministry of MSME on a 10-acre land parcel provided by the Karnataka government. Karnataka ministers Krishna Byre Gowda and Vijayanand Kashappanavar, senior officials, industry representatives and other stakeholders are expected to attend.
The Technology Centre will specialise in Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) and provide MSMEs with access to advanced machinery, laboratories and technical support.
Its facilities include a Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) line, additive manufacturing systems, CNC 3-axis and 5-axis machines and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment. The centre will also offer testing, design assistance and business and technical advisory services to help MSMEs improve productivity and competitiveness.
10,000 trainees to be trained every year
The centre has been designed to provide industry-grade training in areas such as embedded systems, PCB design and assembly, automation and robotics, and maintenance and repair.
According to the Ministry, it will have the capacity to train 10,000 trainees annually, potentially creating a larger pool of skilled manpower for Karnataka’s advanced manufacturing sectors.
The facility includes dedicated training, production and administrative blocks, residential facilities for boys and girls, staff accommodation and an executive hostel.
Bengaluru’s aerospace, semiconductor ecosystem to get boost
The centre’s catchment area includes major companies and institutions such as HAL, ISRO, National Aerospace Laboratories, Airbus, Boeing, Texas Instruments, Mitsubishi Electric India, Wipro, GE and Centum Electronics, alongside several MSMEs.
The Ministry said the centre is intended to strengthen Karnataka’s MSME ecosystem by supporting design, prototyping, production, training and consultancy in electronics and aerospace. It is also expected to contribute to employment generation and sustainable livelihoods in the state.
