Jaipur, June 18 (IANS) A major accident was narrowly averted in Udaipur after two tourists became stranded mid-air during a zip-line ride on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred in the Dudh Talai area along the banks of Lake Pichola, where the tourists were left hanging approximately 70 feet above the ground.
Thanks to the swift response of the on-site rescue team, both tourists were brought to safety within two-and-a-half minutes. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media and is drawing widespread attention.
According to officials, four friends from Gujarat — Sunil, Alpesh, Rithvik and Sumit — had travelled to Udaipur on vacation. During their visit, they decided to experience the zip-line ride at Dudh Talai.
The zip line operates between Deendayal Park and Manikyalal Verma Park and stretches approximately 630 metres. Under normal conditions, riders complete the journey in about 45 seconds.
The four friends were sent on the ride in pairs. One pair had nearly reached the endpoint and was around 20 metres away from the destination when weather conditions suddenly deteriorated.
Strong winds reduced their momentum, causing them to stop midway on the cable.
Suspended high above the ground, with traffic moving on the road below, the tourists became alarmed and called for help.
As soon as the situation was reported, the rescue team stationed at the site launched an immediate response.
Equipped with safety gear, team members reached the stranded tourists and safely brought them back to the starting point.
The entire rescue operation was completed in approximately two-and-a-half minutes, preventing what could have become a serious accident.
Zip-line operator Sharad Agarwal said the incident was caused by a sudden change in weather and strong winds.
He stated that a trained rescue team is always present at the site to handle emergencies and that immediate action is taken whenever required.
According to him, all riders are provided with helmets, safety harnesses and other essential protective equipment before the ride begins.
He also noted that regular mock drills are conducted to ensure the rescue team remains prepared for emergency situations.
The zip-line facility at Dudh Talai was launched in October 2025 and has quickly become one of Udaipur’s popular adventure attractions.
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of safety protocols and emergency preparedness at adventure tourism sites.
