
New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sant Kabir Das, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Sunday that the city represents India’s diversity, social harmony and cultural unity, where every individual enjoys equal opportunity and dignity.
Addressing a state-level celebration to commemorate the life, teachings and enduring legacy of the great saint and social reformer, Chief Minister Gupta said that, inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guided by the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas”, the Delhi government is committed to working for the welfare of every section of society.
The event was attended by Union Minister of State (MoS) Social Justice and Empowerment B.L. Verma, Delhi Minister for Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare GNCTD Ravinder Indraj Singh, MLA Neelam Pahalwan, public representatives, members of the saint community, representatives of various social and religious organisations, eminent scholars, senior government officials and a large number of citizens.
The Chief Minister described Sant Kabir’s life and teachings as a timeless message of social harmony, equality and humanity.
She said that his couplets and teachings continue to guide society even today.
Sant Kabir Das rose above caste, creed and social divisions to spread the message of love, brotherhood and unity, which remains equally relevant in contemporary times.
She said that teachings of Sant Kabir Das continue to inspire society, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that his message reaches the younger generation.
Chief Minister Gupta said that the Delhi government will institute competitions and awards in the name of Sant Kabir Das to promote his teachings, couplets and message of humanity among the youth, thereby strengthening the values of social harmony, national unity and human dignity.
On the occasion, Delhi Minister for Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare Ravinder Indraj Singh said that Sant Kabir Das, through his life and teachings, gave society the invaluable message of equality, harmony, brotherhood and humanity.
He raised his voice against social discrimination, caste hierarchy and social evils, while advocating a society founded on love, truth and righteous conduct.
His teachings continue to inspire social harmony, social justice and universal human values.
He said that the Delhi government remains committed to the welfare of all sections of society and the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage.
The Minister said that the Delhi government is continuously working to carry the teachings and ideals of great personalities to the younger generation while promoting social harmony and public awareness.
He added that the celebration of Sant Kabir Das Jayanti is an important initiative towards strengthening the values of love, harmony, social equality and national unity.
