Rajbhar questions dissolution of SP’s Kannauj unit, says Akhilesh Yadav’s constituency raises concerns

Lucknow, Oct 20 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister, O.P. Rajbhar, on Tuesday questioned the dissolution of the Samajwadi Party’s Kannauj unit, saying the move raised concerns as party chief Akhilesh Yadav represents the constituency in Parliament.

Speaking to IANS, O.P. Rajbhar said, “He (Akhilesh Yadav) is the Member of Parliament from there (Kannauj), and he is also the National President of the party. So, it is concerning when a party unit is dissolved from such an area. For example, if it is PM Modi’s program and the party unit in the constituency is dissolved, questions will be raised about PM Modi.

“So the Kannauj program is evidence that the people of Kannauj have sidelined Akhilesh Yadav, and he will face the consequences in the 2027 elections. When we (BJP) held a program in Kannauj in May and June, more than 4,000 people attended the program.”

He also backed AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s remarks on Akhilesh Yadav’s impending October 22 meeting with senior Samajwadi Party leader and former UP Cabinet minister Mohammad Azam Khan, in which Owaisi claimed that the SP chief had not supported Khan earlier.

He claimed that Owaisi was right and that Akhilesh Yadav was going to meet Azam Khan ahead of the forthcoming Assembly polls in UP to take political advantage. He added that Azam Khan has been in jail for a long time, but this was the only time Akhilesh Yadav was going there to meet him.

Earlier, too, Rajbhar, launched a sharp attack on Akhilesh Yadav, and alleged that the party would be wiped out in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state in 2027.

Taking a dig at Akhilesh over the dissolution of the SP’s Kannauj district unit, Rajbhar asked, “If he himself cannot step out of the world of air-conditioned rooms, press conferences, and Twitter, what are the local leaders supposed to do?”

In his post on ‘X’, Rajbhar recalled how Akhilesh Yadav’s father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, and uncle, Shivpal Singh Yadav, had built Kannauj into an SP stronghold through their hard work and sweat. He then advised Akhilesh Yadav to take a look at the current state of the party under his own leadership.
