Jaipur, July 21 (IANS) Ahead of the upcoming panchayat and urban local body elections, the Rajasthan Government has launched ‘Yuva Suyog’, a youth-focused initiative to promote sports and identify talent at the grassroots level.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma unveiled the programme on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Residence, saying the Government would frame future sports policies based on the aspirations and participation of young people.
Under the initiative, sports competitions in cricket, volleyball, kabaddi and football will be organised at the ward level in urban areas and panchayat level in rural regions. Young participants will be required to register on the Yuva Suyog platform to take part in the events.
“We will not impose policies on the youth. Instead, we will formulate sports policies based on their sporting activities and participation,” the Chief Minister said while launching the programme.
Sharma explained that the platform would provide talented youth with opportunities to showcase their abilities and progress through a structured competition system.
Winning teams at the ward and panchayat levels will advance to competitions at the Assembly constituency level, creating a pathway for emerging athletes.
As part of the initiative, the Government will create a digital database of youth from every village and urban ward in Rajasthan. ‘Suyog Yuva Clubs’ will be formed at the district level, with every registered participant automatically becoming a member. These clubs will be linked with youth clubs operating at the panchayat level in rural areas and ward level in urban areas, creating a statewide network for youth engagement and sports development.
The programme was initially launched as a pilot project in the Bagru Assembly constituency and the Baran district.
The Chief Minister also announced that sports grounds in schools, colleges, panchayats and urban wards will be digitally mapped to strengthen sports infrastructure planning and improve access to facilities.
Highlighting the Government’s focus on youth empowerment, Sharma said that continuous efforts are underway to expand sports facilities from villages to cities, while maintaining regular dialogue with young people. He added that suggestions received from the youth are being incorporated into the state budget and policy decisions.
