New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS) Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday questioned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor Arvind Kejriwal over the induction of alleged gangster Gurpreet Sekhon, the mastermind of the Nabha jailbreak case, into the ruling party in Punjab.
Warring also met the newly appointed party’s State In-charge Sachin Pilot in Delhi.
He said that Pilot has always been a much sought-after popular leader in the country.
He added that while he was the President of the Indian Youth Congress, Sachin Pilot always used to be in great demand after Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Later talking to the media, Warring said the entire state unit of the Congress in Punjab was united and soon the entire leadership will be seen on the single platform.
Replying to a query on gangster Sekhon being inducted into the AAP, the State Congress President said the party was playing dirty politics out of despair and frustration.
He added that the AAP was planning to field Sekhon from Zira (Ferozepur district) when it already had a sitting MLA from that Assembly constituency.
“This obviously means that the AAP has lost political ground and is now trying to use gangsters in the upcoming Assembly elections.”
Warring reminded Kejriwal that when the Nabha jailbreak incident had taken place in 2016, he had criticized the law and order in Punjab.
“Now the same Kejriwal has inducted the mastermind of the jailbreak into the AAP,” he noted, adding people of Punjab were watching.
He said the people want to get rid of the gangsters and the AAP was inducting them into the party and empowering them.
He also recalled how Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann would taunt the Akali Dal during the Tarn Taran by-election as the Akali Dal had fielded the mother-in-law of a gangster from there.
“With what face will you face the people after inducting someone with 47 criminal cases, including the Nabha jailbreak, registered against him?” Warring asked the AAP leadership in Punjab.
