PM Modi’s roadshow enthralls thousands; Thiruvananthapuram erupts in celebration

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 23 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow through the streets of Thiruvananthapuram on Friday turned the state capital into a living spectacle, as thousands poured onto the roads to witness a moment that blended political significance with raw public emotion.

PM Modi is in Thiruvananthapuram to inaugurate a slew of Central government projects, unveil the development roadmap for the city, and take part in celebrations following the BJP’s historic victory in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation — its first-ever win in a municipal corporation in Kerala after dislodging the CPI(M)-led Left that had ruled the civic body for 45 years.

The most electrifying moment unfolded just before the Prime Minister’s convoy reached the meeting venue.

The long procession of vehicles suddenly slowed and came to a halt, triggering anticipation across the crowd-packed stretch.

Moments later, PM Modi stepped out of his vehicle, climbed onto the vehicle’s side step and stood waving to the massive gathering that had waited patiently along both sides of the road.

The brief, unscheduled pause sent waves of excitement through the crowd.

Supporters erupted into deafening chants, shouting slogans glorifying the Prime Minister as saffron flags fluttered and mobile phones were raised high to capture the scene.

PM Modi responded with folded hands and repeated waves, acknowledging the crowd’s affection as the atmosphere tipped from celebratory to euphoric.

“I just wanted to see him, and that has been my mission for a long time. Now I am excited after seeing him. This was a moment I had been waiting for,” said an elated supporter, summing up the mood shared by thousands.

From the early hours of the morning, BJP workers, supporters and others lined the route from the airport to the meeting venue, transforming the arterial roads of the capital into corridors of colour, sound and anticipation.

Cheers, drumbeats and slogans followed the convoy as it moved slowly through the city.

Beyond the spectacle, the roadshow underscored the political moment the BJP is keen to project — a fusion of development messaging and organisational strength in the heart of Kerala’s capital.
