Patna, July 27 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Monday addressed a massive public meeting in Bihar’s Bankipur Assembly constituency, urging voters to support NDA candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha in the July 30 by-election.
Emphasising the BJP’s commitment to promoting grassroots workers, Nabin said Neeraj Kumar Sinha’s candidature exemplifies the party’s culture of rewarding dedicated party workers.
The public meeting was attended by Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) State President Raju Tiwari, Hindustani Awam Morcha national president Santosh Suman, Rashtriya Lok Morcha state president Alok Singh, Lok Sabha MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, and several other NDA leaders.
Opening his address, Nitin Nabin thanked the people of Bankipur for the enthusiastic response to the BJP’s roadshow and expressed gratitude for their continued trust and support.
He said Neeraj Kumar Sinha had begun his political journey as a booth president and later served as a Mandal president, describing him as an ordinary party worker who had earned the opportunity to contest through dedication and hard work.
“The BJP is a party that gives opportunities to ordinary party workers. Those who believe election tickets are reserved only for influential families cannot understand the strength and commitment of grassroots workers,” Nabin said.
Taking aim at the opposition, he alleged that parties dependent on dynastic politics and money power could never appreciate the struggles of ordinary workers.
Recalling the NDA’s rise to power in Bihar in 2005, Nabin said BJP workers had fought against jungle raj and contributed to ushering in an era of good governance.
Highlighting the NDA government’s development initiatives, Nabin cited major infrastructure projects such as the Double-Decker Bridge at Kargil Chowk, Marine Drive, improved roads, drinking water facilities, electricity supply, and the construction of community buildings. He said these projects had transformed Bankipur and given Patna a new identity.
He also pointed to development in areas including Mithapur, Chandpur Bela, Sipara, Dashratha, Bigrahpur, Chiraiyatand, Boring Road, and Kidwaipuri, claiming that residents had witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure and civic amenities.
According to him, projects involving the redevelopment of Mandiri Nala and road construction over major drains, including Bakarganj, Serpentine, Saidpur, Anandpuri, and Kurji, reflect the NDA government’s commitment to urban development.
Referring to law and order, Nabin contrasted the present with the past, stating that there was a time when women felt unsafe stepping outside after dusk.
He claimed that improved governance under the NDA has created a safer environment and urged voters not to allow Bihar to return to what he described as the era of jungle raj.
The BJP leader also highlighted the NDA government’s efforts towards women’s empowerment through the Jeevika programme.
He said women have become active participants in Bihar’s development and criticised those making objectionable remarks about them, asserting that such attitudes would be rejected by the electorate.
Nabin credited former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for initiating Bihar’s development journey and said the momentum is continuing under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
He added that NDA allies, including Jitan Ram Manjhi, Upendra Kushwaha, and Chirag Paswan, are working together under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for Bihar’s development.
Concluding his address, Nabin appealed to voters to support the NDA by pressing Button No. 2 next to the Lotus symbol on polling day.
“Your vote will accelerate the pace of development in Bankipur. Neeraj Kumar Sinha will carry forward the ongoing development works and continue serving the people of the constituency like a brother and a son,” he said.
