MP woman found hanging at home, police probe suspected domestic discord

Gwalior, July 22 (IANS) A 22-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself at her residence in Gwalior’s DD Nagar area in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred under the Maharajpura police station limits late on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Sakshi Chaudhary, wife of Lalkesh Chaudhary.

According to the police, the couple had been married for around one-and-a-half years. Police said the incident came to light at around 10.45 p.m. when Sakshi’s family members went to her room to call her for dinner.

After receiving no response, they opened the door and found her hanging. The family immediately alerted the police. A police team reached the spot soon after receiving information and took the body into custody.

The body was later sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

“We received information about a woman found hanging at her residence in DD Nagar on Tuesday night. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case of unnatural death has been registered. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. We are questioning family members and examining all possible angles to determine the circumstances that led to the incident,” a police officer in Maharajpura police station said.

During preliminary investigation, police found no suicide note from the room. Investigators said the exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be established.

Police suspect that domestic discord may have played a role, but said no conclusion can be drawn until the investigation is completed.

According to the police, Sakshi’s husband, Lalkesh Chaudhary, is an engineer in a government department and was on duty when the incident took place.

He returned home after being informed about the incident.

Police have recorded the statements of family members and are awaiting the post-mortem report.

Officials said further action will be taken based on the medical findings and evidence collected during the investigation. Police said that further investigation into the case was underway.
