New Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday paid respects to Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas on his 650th birth anniversary, emphasising that taking his teachings to every person is the true resolve of social harmony.
Participating in the ‘Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan and Pavitra Maati Kalash Distribution’ programme held at Talkatora Stadium here, she said the Samrasta Sankalp Yatra, which began from the holy land of Varanasi, has now reached Delhi and will travel to all districts of the city.
She said the campaign, launched in line with the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is an important effort to take the teachings of Sant Ravidas to every person.
She expressed the hope that the sacred soil from the kalash would reach every household and settlement in Delhi, carrying Sant Ravidas’ blessings and teachings to every individual.
The Chief Minister said the sacred soil is not merely earth but a symbol of Sant Ravidas Ji’s thoughts, his lifelong social work and his guidance to humanity.
On the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan provides an opportunity to imbibe his ideals and strengthen the spirit of equality, dignity and brotherhood in society, she said.
The Chief Minister said the essence of Sant Ravidas Ji’s teachings is that no one in society is lesser or greater than another, and every person should have equal opportunities and respect.
These values are being taken forward under the leadership of PM Modi through the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’, she said.
The Delhi government is also working based on these values and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities and respect for every individual. She said a strong spirit of social harmony, equality and dignity will form the foundation for fulfilling the resolve of a developed India.
She made the remarks in the presence of BJP national president Nitin Nabin, BJP SC Morcha national president Shivesh Kumar Ram, BJP national vice-president Lal Singh, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, former national general secretary Dushyant Gautam and others.
