Karnataka SIR deadline extended: Final voter list now due on October 27

Bengaluru: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Karnataka’s electoral rolls, with the final voter list now scheduled for October 27.

Under the revised schedule, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will continue house-to-house verification and polling station rationalisation until August 17. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 24, after which voters can submit claims and objections until September 23.

Authorities will examine and dispose of the claims and objections by October 22, paving the way for publication of the final voter list on October 27.

The revised schedule was announced following a request from Karnataka’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) for additional time to complete the revision exercise.

Meanwhile, around 1.10 crore voters have been placed in the ASDDO (Already Shifted, Dead, Duplicate or Otherwise) category during the SIR exercise. Election officials said voters whose names have been wrongly included in the category can approach their BLO or Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to seek corrections.

The Election Department said more than 80% of voter enumeration forms have already been submitted across the state, as the large-scale revision exercise progresses.
