
Bengaluru, April 12 (IANS) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle, saying that the film industry has lost a legendary voice.
In a condolence message, he said that Asha Bhosle had entertained music lovers for several decades with more than 12,000 songs, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in Indian cinema.
He noted that Asha Bhosle’s melodious voice, simple demeanour, and affectionate nature had earned her a permanent place in the hearts of people across generations.
The Chief Minister said her passing marks the loss of a vital link between the old and new generations of music, creating an irreplaceable void in the industry.
He prayed that the legendary singer’s soul rests in peace and expressed hope that her family, friends, and admirers would find the strength to bear the loss.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy said, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Asha Bhosle avaru, a towering legend whose voice defined generations of Indian music.”
“Her unparalleled contribution to the world of music, marked by timeless melodies and extraordinary versatility, will continue to inspire artists and audiences alike,” he added.
“My heartfelt condolences to her family, admirers, and the entire music fraternity. May her soul rest in peace,” Union Minister Kumaraswamy said.

Former Chief Minister and BJP Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned Bollywood playback singer Asha Bhosle, calling the news deeply painful.
In a message posted on X, Bommai said that with her melodious voice, Asha Bhosle won the hearts of music lovers for several decades, and the hundreds of immortal songs she rendered will remain etched in memory forever.
He noted that she had sung thousands of songs in more than 20 languages and made an immense contribution to Indian music, earning several prestigious honours, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
He said her passing is an irreparable loss to the world of music and that the entire world has lost a great artist.
He prayed that God grants peace to her soul and gives strength to her family and millions of admirers to bear the loss.
