Chandigarh, April 10 (IANS) In a major step towards strengthening social welfare delivery, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday transferred Rs 1,665.25 crore directly into bank accounts of beneficiaries under 18 different government schemes.
Addressing the media here, the Chief Minister said in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the “double-engine government is continuously working for women’s empowerment and their economic development”.
The Chief Minister said on Friday that the sixth instalment under the ‘Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi’ scheme has been released. A sum of Rs 203.28 crore has been transferred to 9.68 lakh women beneficiaries. With this, the total disbursement under the scheme has reached Rs 1,038.05 crore across six instalments.
Highlighting future plans, the Chief Minister said in the Budget 2026-27, a budgetary provision of Rs 6,500 crore has also been earmarked for the scheme. The Chief Minister said under 15 social security pension schemes, Rs 1,144.55 crore has been directly transferred to 35.55 lakh beneficiaries. These include old-age pension, disability pension, and other welfare pensions.
Taking a dig at the Opposition, he said during the Congress regime, pensions were not processed for six months to even a year and even when they were processed, there was corruption. Now the state government has adopted a ‘pro-active governance model’, wherein eligibility is automatically determined through the Parivar Pehchan Patra database.
“This has eliminated the need for applications and office visits, enabling citizens to receive benefits seamlessly at their doorstep,” CM Saini said. The Chief Minister said under the Dayalu Scheme, financial assistance of Rs 298.07 crore was provided on Friday to 7,875 families.
He said so far, Rs 2,118.23 crore has been disbursed to 56,223 families. “With today’s release, the total assistance has reached Rs 2,416.30 crore, benefiting 64,098 families,” said CM Saini.
In a significant step towards empowering the farmers belonging to the Scheduled Castes, a subsidy of Rs 19.35 crore has been released to 645 farmers for the purchase of tractors. Under this scheme, each eligible farmer is provided a subsidy of Rs 3 lakh.
CM Saini said in the tragic incident during duty in Faridabad, where two firefighters working under Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam (HKRN) lost their lives, the government has decided to provide immediate relief of Rs 30 lakh to each family. Out of this, Rs 10 lakh per family will be given through the Haryana Parivar Suraksha Nyas and Rs 20 lakh per family from the CM Relief Fund. In addition, one dependent from each family will be given a job under HKRN.
