Samsung has introduced a new feature called Samsung Wallet for Galaxy smartphone users, offering convenient and secure access to digital IDs, documents, and vaccination certificates. With this update, users can also enjoy various travel and mobility features, combining the capabilities of Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass.
Samsung Wallet enables users to store their Co-WIN vaccination certificates securely on their phones, making it easier to access and present them whenever needed. Additionally, the wallet offers seamless card Tap and Pay, UPI payments, and bill payments experiences, enhancing the overall convenience of using Galaxy smartphones.
The new travel features within Samsung Wallet allow users to recharge and check their FASTag accounts, save flight boarding passes for quick access, and access a complete train ticket solution, including booking, saving tickets, and checking train status.
For added convenience, users can add train tickets or boarding passes by scanning QR or barcodes or importing images or PDFs directly to Samsung Wallet.
Moreover, Samsung Wallet allows users to present proof of identity and travel documents required for entering airports. It provides access to over 2,000 other IDs/documents directly from the wallet. Importantly, Samsung assures users that none of this information will be stored on the company’s servers, ensuring data privacy.
The development of these new features was carried out by a dedicated team of engineers, designers, and product managers at the Samsung R&D Institute in Bangalore (SRI-B).
To access these features, Galaxy smartphone users can update their existing Samsung Pay service to Samsung Wallet through the Galaxy Store. With this new offering, Samsung aims to provide an enhanced and secure digital experience for its users while reaffirming its commitment to supporting the digital transformation in India.
