Chennai: TN Police arrested V.A.T Kalivaradhan, a BJP leader, from his residence early this morning on account of alleged derogatory remarks he made against Karunanidhi. The remarks were reportedly made during his participation in a public programme at Vikravandi in Villupuram district.
Sources within the Villupuram police revealed that the arrest was made under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, namely Sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riots), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 505(i)(c) (inciting any class or community to commit offenses against any other class or community).
Furthermore, another case was registered against him under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2022.
