New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) The Delhi Police on Monday arrested an alleged Bangladeshi national in connection with a case registered under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, POCSO Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused has been identified as Md. Atrul Rehman, son of Md. Abdul, a resident of Alipur, Upzila Satkhira, District Satkhira, Bangladesh. He was arrested by the staff of Police Station Adarsh Nagar following a preliminary enquiry based on information provided by his wife, who alleged that he was a Bangladeshi national residing in India on the basis of fake identity documents.
According to the Delhi Police, a PCR call was received at PS Adarsh Nagar on August 24 regarding a domestic violence incident. The caller, Nikki, wife of Md. Atrul, alleged that her husband had physically assaulted her.
During the enquiry conducted by the SHO of Adarsh Nagar, the complainant verbally disclosed that her husband was allegedly a Bangladeshi national and had been residing in India using fake identity documents. She stated that she would submit a detailed written complaint along with the alleged fake documents and other documents relating to his Bangladeshi nationality.
On August 28, the complainant submitted her written complaint at PS Adarsh Nagar along with the relevant documents.
During the preliminary enquiry, she said that Md. Atrul had previously married a woman identified as Shaista Parveen and that she was his second wife. She further alleged that he had solemnised a third marriage with a Bangladeshi woman, Manira Khatoon, daughter of Ruhul Amin, a resident of Ramnagar, Post Bakal, Upzila Satkhira, Bangladesh.
As per the marriage agreement/document produced by the complainant, the particulars of the alleged person were mentioned as Md. Atrul Rehman, son of Md. Abdul, resident of Alipur, Upzila Satkhira, District Satkhira, Bangladesh.
The complainant also made an allegation concerning the circumcision of her son from her earlier marriage. Police said the allegations are being investigated in accordance with law and all relevant evidence is being collected.
During the preliminary enquiry, the documents and information provided by the complainant were examined and necessary verification was undertaken.
Based on the preliminary enquiry and the material collected, FIR No. 0603/26 dated August 30, 2026, was registered at PS Adarsh Nagar against Md. Atrul under Section 14 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, Section 12 of the POCSO Act and Sections 118(1), 318(4), 336(3) and 340(2) of the BNS.
The accused has been arrested in connection with the case.
Police said further investigation is underway. The accused will be produced before the court, and police custody remand will be sought for further investigation and to collect all possible evidence, including verification of his nationality, identity documents, immigration history and other relevant facts of the case.
Necessary action regarding his alleged foreign nationality and immigration status will be taken as per law after due verification from the authorities concerned, the police said.
