New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS) Delhi-NCR is likely to witness another day of cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall on Friday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light rain at several places and moderate showers at isolated locations.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may also occur during the night. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, warning of light to moderate rainfall in the national Capital on Friday and Saturday. The showers are expected to bring some relief from the recent humid and uncomfortable conditions and could keep daytime temperatures relatively moderate.
Delhi is likely to record a minimum temperature of around 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of nearly 31 degrees Celsius. The capital is expected to remain mostly overcast, with occasional light showers. Some areas could receive moderate rainfall, while thunderstorms and lightning are possible later in the day and during the night. In Noida, the weather is also expected to remain cloudy with spells of rain.
The maximum temperature may settle around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to remain close to 24 degrees Celsius. While the rainfall could make conditions more comfortable than the recent hot and humid weather, increased humidity may continue to be felt. Commuters should exercise caution as rain could temporarily reduce visibility and make roads slippery.
Gurgaon is likely to experience predominantly cloudy weather, with rainfall possible during the afternoon. The temperature is expected to hover between 24 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD forecast, several parts of Gurgaon and adjoining areas could receive rain on Friday, while isolated areas of Haryana may experience heavy showers. Rainfall activity is expected to persist on Saturday as well.
Ghaziabad may see a mix of cloudy conditions and intermittent showers. One or two spells of rain or thundershowers are possible, including during the morning and afternoon. Temperatures are likely to remain between 25 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius. The unsettled weather may continue into Saturday, with rain and thunderstorms affecting parts of the Delhi-NCR region.
Faridabad is also expected to receive rain amid generally cloudy skies. Temperatures may range from around 24 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius. The IMD has predicted rainfall at several places in Faridabad and other parts of southern Haryana, with isolated areas potentially witnessing heavy showers.
Rain and thundershowers may continue through Saturday before gradually weakening after the weekend. The broader weather pattern suggests continued rainfall activity across North India and the Gangetic plains.
Several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, are expected to remain under the influence of a developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to support widespread rain during the coming days, with some areas potentially receiving heavy precipitation. The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms and strong winds in vulnerable areas. Wind speeds could reach around 70 kmph during intense weather activity, increasing the risk of disruptions, particularly during thunderstorms.
