New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta provided the long-pending Rs 1 crore assistance each to the families of frontline workers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during the Covid-19 pandemic, an official said on Thursday.
The contribution of frontline workers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered, and the Delhi government’s commitment to their families will forever remain paramount, she said in a message on social media platform X.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister interacted with sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), appreciated their dedicated service and acknowledged their vital contribution to building a clean and beautiful Delhi.
She also shared a meal with them and expressed her gratitude for their commitment and service.
The interaction took place on the sidelines of the launch of a door-to-door waste collection and secondary transportation project in the West Delhi Municipal Corporation area by flagging off 917 modern vehicles.
Chief Minister Gupta said that the Delhi government’s objective is not merely to collect waste but to build a modern, technology-driven, transparent and citizen-centric solid waste management system.
She added that the new system would make door-to-door waste collection more efficient, timely and accountable while playing a significant role in creating a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Delhi.
She expressed confidence that the combination of modern technology, strong infrastructure and public participation would establish Delhi as the cleanest and most well-managed capital in the country.
The project will cover around 4.5 lakh families across 25 wards of the West Delhi Municipal Corporation, an official statement said.
It has been launched in six wards in the first phase, while the remaining 19 wards will be brought under the system by August 31, it said.
To strengthen sanitation services, a fleet of 917 state-of-the-art vehicles and modern waste collection equipment has been deployed to ensure timely and efficient door-to-door waste collection.
