New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) On the occasion of the 301st birth anniversary of Punyashlok Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, Union Minister of State and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra garlanded her portrait, praising her governance model for its sensitivity to the needs of the people and accountability.
Malhotra said that her life remains an unparalleled example of Indian culture, public service, women’s empowerment, and good governance.
The Delhi BJP chief said that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar assumed the reins of governance at a time when society was facing numerous challenges. However, through her foresight, commitment to justice, and welfare-oriented policies, she established an ideal system of governance.
Her administration was sensitive to the needs of the people, accountable, and dedicated to public welfare, he said.
The Delhi BJP President said that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar’s contribution towards the preservation and reconstruction of several religious and cultural sites across the country, including Kashi, Somnath, Ujjain, and Gaya, remains unforgettable.
The work she undertook to preserve India’s cultural heritage continues to inspire generations, said Malhotra.
Union Minister of State S.P. Singh Baghel and BJP OBC Morcha National General Secretary Sangam Lal Gupta also paid floral tributes to Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar on behalf of the people of Delhi by garlanding her portrait at a commemorative programme held at the Delhi BJP office.
Office bearers of the Delhi BJP OBC Morcha and a large number of party workers also paid floral tributes to Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar.
Baghel said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation is respectfully remembering the contributions of great personalities who played a significant role in nation-building.
The ideals of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar — service, good governance, and cultural pride — serve as guiding principles in strengthening the vision of a developed India, he said.
Baghel appealed to all citizens to draw inspiration from the life and ideals of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar and actively contribute to social service, women’s dignity, and nation-building.
He said that following the values she established would be a true tribute to her legacy.
Sangam Lal Gupta said that through her just, compassionate, and people-centric governance, Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar demonstrated that positive social transformation can be achieved through determination, a spirit of service, and dedication.
During her reign, she accorded the highest priority to the welfare of her subjects and set a benchmark of good governance that remains relevant even today, he said.
Gupta said that under the leadership of PM Modi, the country is honouring and remembering the contributions of its great personalities. The ideals of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar continue to guide the nation in building a self-reliant, harmonious, and developed India.
