Datia, July 21 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday stepped up its campaign for the Datia Assembly bye-election by rolling out a booth-level outreach plan and flagging off 15 campaign vehicles, as the party sought to strengthen its organisational presence ahead of polling on July 30.
The campaign vehicles were flagged off by BJP’s Madhya Pradesh incharge Mahendra Singh from the party’s election office in Datia.
Addressing party workers, Singh said, “The enthusiasm among people across the six mandals, 291 polling booths and 46 Shakti Kendras makes it clear that BJP candidate Ashutosh Shukla will secure a resounding victory.”
According to party leaders, the campaign vehicles will travel across urban and rural areas of the constituency to publicise the BJP’s campaign and reach voters before polling.
Alongside the outreach drive, the BJP has put in place a detailed booth management strategy by assigning former ministers, former MLAs and senior organisational functionaries the responsibility of supervising ‘Shakti Kendras’, which are clusters of four to six polling booths.
Each Shakti Kendra has been assigned an incharge and an organiser to coordinate booth workers, oversee campaign activities and strengthen voter contact.
The arrangement covers all six organisational mandals in the constituency — Datia City, Datia Rural, Bhander, Badooni, Indergarh and Seondha.
The party said the exercise is aimed at improving coordination at the grassroots level and ensuring effective booth management on polling day.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has completed preparations for home voting by eligible electors.
Polling teams will visit voters aged above 85 years and people with benchmark disabilities on July 22 and 23.
District officials said 86 voters have opted for the facility after submitting the prescribed applications. The administration has divided the constituency into seven sectors to conduct the exercise.
The Election Commission has scheduled polling for the Datia Assembly bye-election on July 30, while counting of votes will be held on August 3.
The BJP has fielded Ashutosh Shukla for the bypoll, while the Congress has nominated former MLA Ghanshyam Singh.
Both parties have intensified their campaigns, with the BJP banking on its organisational network and booth-level mobilisation, while the Congress is seeking to make electoral gains in the high-profile contest.
