Cyberabad police bust land scam, three held

Hyderabad, May 29 (IANS) Cyberabad police have busted a massive land scam involving fake Government Orders, arresting three persons.

According to police, the accused fabricated Government Orders (G.Os) to illegally sell 10 acres of government land worth nearly Rs 1,500 crore in Gandipet.

A former MLA of the YSR Congress Party, Bolla Brahma Naidu, has been named as one of the accused in the case and is allegedly absconding.

Nimmala Rajesh Goud, Nimmala Venugopal, and Nimmala Sai Kiran were arrested on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Srinivas said police had received a complaint on May 23 from Srinivas Reddy, Tahsildar, Gandipet Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, stating that certain fake and fabricated G.Os were created and circulated through WhatsApp groups and other social media platforms, falsely portraying that government land situated in Survey No.18 had been regularised and allotted in favour of private individuals. The forged and fabricated documents included five fake G.O. copies.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Narsingi Police Station, Cyberabad.

During the course of the investigation, searches were conducted at the houses of the accused persons, namely Nimmala Venugopal, Nimmala Ramaswamy, and Nimmala Rajesh. During the searches, bank passbooks, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) documents, mobile phones, and one laptop were seized.

Investigation revealed that the sons and daughter of late Dasarath, namely Nimmala Rajesh Goud, Nimmala Venugopal, Nimmala Ramaswamy, and Manga, all residents of Gandipet Village, had allegedly claimed possession over approximately 10 acres of Government Poramboke land situated in Sy.No.18.

Subsequently, the family members approached the High Court by filing petitions against the Revenue Department seeking relief in respect of the said land. However, the High Court dismissed their petitions in October 2025.

Despite the dismissal of their claims and having no lawful ownership, title, or legal rights over the said government land, the accused persons allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy with Bolla Ramesh and Brahma Naidu to sell the land at the rate of Rs 3.5 crore per acre by falsely representing themselves as absolute owners having valid legal rights over the property. MoUs were executed between the Nimmala family members and Bolla Ramesh & Brahma Naidu, thereby causing wrongful loss to the government.

Investigation disclosed that the Nimmala family members had allegedly received nearly Rs 4 crore from the second party in connection with the proposed land transaction. The conspiracy was allegedly mediated by Sunil, Radhakrishna, and others, who are presently absconding.

Further investigation revealed that the accused Nimmala Venugopal and his family members, along with Bolla Ramesh, Brahma Naidu, Sunil, and Radhakrishna, in furtherance of their criminal conspiracy, allegedly fabricated fake G.Os and other forged documents showing as if the government had regularised and allotted the said 10 acres of land in favour of the accused persons.

Other accused persons, namely Bolla Ramesh, Brahma Naidu, Sunil, Radhakrishna, and others involved in the offence, are absconding, and efforts are being made to apprehend them at the earliest. Further investigation is in progress, the police officer said.
