Jaipur, July 21 (IANS) Rajasthan Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham on Tuesday described the Congress’s recent protest as a “political gimmick,” alleging that the party was attempting to mislead the public instead of engaging constructively on issues affecting the people.
Bedham said the Congress has been unsettled by the rapid pace of development in the country and Rajasthan, as well as the expanding opportunities being created for young people.
He remarked that, unable to accept these changes, Congress leaders had once again resorted to political theatrics to mislead the public. He urged the party to abandon what he called “appeasement and divisive politics” and instead play a constructive role on matters of public interest.
Referring to the recent youth protest, the minister said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister J.P. Nadda had engaged with the protesters, listened to their concerns, and initiated positive steps to address their issues.
“Despite these efforts, Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi chose only to mislead the youth for political gain,” Bedham alleged. He further claimed that, following the same political strategy, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra had also staged demonstrations for political purposes.
Criticising the previous Congress government, Bedham said it should remember its own record, when repeated incidents of question paper leaks jeopardised the future of lakhs of aspirants, yet effective action was not taken.
In contrast, he said, the present state government under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has conducted transparent recruitment processes and provided employment opportunities to deserving candidates.
The minister further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has achieved significant progress in development, economic growth and global standing. He added that Rajasthan has also witnessed renewed momentum in development and good governance under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
