Congress Bhavan Launches Unique Initiative to Keep Constitutional Ideals Alive

Mangaluru: Constitution Day was observed across the country on Wednesday, and the District Congress Bhavan in Mangaluru marked the occasion with a distinctive initiative — the unveiling of a ‘Constitution Plaque’ at the District Congress (Indira Janma Shatabdi) Bhavan in Mallikatte.

The permanent installation features the Preamble of the Indian Constitution in both Kannada and English, along with a portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The initiative aims to serve as a daily reminder of constitutional values such as justice, liberty, equality, socialism, secularism and fraternity.

Conceptualised by Manoraj Rajeeva, a prominent advocate and president of the District Congress Law Unit, the plaque seeks to reinforce that constitutional ideals must not be remembered only on Constitution Day but upheld throughout the year.

Former minister B. Ramanath Rai, who unveiled the plaque along with other leaders, said the Congress party has always upheld the spirit of the Constitution and continues to follow the principle of secularism.

Addressing the gathering, Rajeeva highlighted key themes including citizens’ rights and duties, the significance of secularism and socialism, and the historical relevance of the Constitution. He noted that the Congress has been advocating social equality in line with constitutional objectives.

KPCC General Secretary Padmaraj Poojary praised the state government’s welfare measures and development initiatives, stating that efforts were underway to transform Mangaluru into a model coastal city.

District Congress leaders, former ministers, unit office-bearers, and lawyers from various constituencies attended the event.
