ACP shoots dead wife and nephew, kills himself in Pune

Amravati: In a tragic incident that has shocked state police circles, Amravati ACP Bharat S. Gaikwad, aged 57, allegedly committed a double murder-cum-suicide in Pune. The incident occurred in the early hours of the day, around 3-4 am. Gaikwad, who was posted at Rajapeth Division of Amravati City Police, reportedly used his service pistol in the gruesome act.

The victims of this harrowing event were Gaikwad’s wife, Moni, aged 44, and his nephew, Deepak, aged 34. Both were tragically shot dead by the ACP, who later turned the weapon on himself, ending his own life.

Gaikwad had two children, who were residing with his wife and deceased nephew in Baner, Pune. He had returned home for a vacation on Saturday from his duty station in Amravati.

As of now, the police have not discovered any suicide note at Gaikwad’s residence, leaving the exact motives behind this devastating incident unclear. However, investigators are exploring the possibility of a family dispute or some form of enmity as potential factors that might have led to this heartbreaking double murder and suicide. Further investigations are underway to ascertain the reasons behind this tragic event.
