Indore, Oct 23 (IANS) Investment proposals worth approximately Rs 5,800 crore have been received at the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Summit-2026, which are expected to generate more than 10,000 employment opportunities in the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the announcement while inaugurating the two-day summit at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore on Friday. He also held one-on-one meetings with representatives of more than 12 companies during the event.
Addressing the inaugural session, Yadav said the Madhya Pradesh government is fully committed to transforming the state into a premier semiconductor and technology hub of the country.
The participation of over 1,000 delegates, including delegations from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Sweden, reflected growing global interest in the state’s semiconductor potential. The summit features eight panel discussions, five roundtables and six keynote addresses, along with stakeholder consultations on the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy-2026 and the MP Semicon Startup Challenge.
The Chief Minister noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is advancing rapidly towards self-reliance in the semiconductor sector. Recalling the global chip shortage during the COVID-19 pandemic, he underlined the economic and strategic importance of the industry.
In the last two and a half years, the state government has formulated over 25 policies that have opened new avenues for investment and industrial growth. Investment proposals worth around Rs 34 lakh crore were received at the Global Investors Summit, of which more than 30 per cent have already been implemented on the ground.
Yadav announced that a “Semiconductor Centre of Excellence and a Centre of Excellence for Photonics and Quantum Technologies” would be established in the state. He said detailed discussions were held with investors on chip design, advanced packaging, testing, artificial intelligence, electronics and manufacturing.
Highlighting the state’s skilled human resources and demographic strength, he assured that the government would partner with industry to convert opportunities into concrete projects. The Chief Minister also pointed to progress in other sectors, including telecom manufacturing in Gwalior, pharmaceuticals, textiles, defence production and power generation, which has risen from about 5,000 MW to 32,000 MW.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, citing the settlement of outstanding dues of over 7,000 workers of Hukumchand Mill in Indore, and invited industry leaders to participate in the upcoming Global Investors Summit.
