Bengaluru: Union communications minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav will jointly lead an investors’ meet in Bengaluru to attract investments into the Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) being developed in Gwalior.
The event, organised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), will bring together telecom manufacturers, technology companies, electronics and component makers, investors and infrastructure providers.
The Bengaluru engagement follows investor meetings in New Delhi and Mumbai, which have generated investment commitments of around ₹5,500 crore with the potential to create nearly 18,000 jobs, according to the DoT.

The Bengaluru meeting will explore opportunities in telecom manufacturing, research and development, technology partnerships, supply-chain integration and employment generation.
The government has announced an incentive package for investments under the TMZ initiative, aimed at strengthening domestic telecom manufacturing and encouraging private-sector participation.
The Gwalior project is being positioned as part of the government’s broader push to make India a global hub for telecom products and innovation, while reducing import dependence and expanding exports.
The proposed TMZ in Gwalior is planned as a 170-acre integrated plug-and-play industrial cluster covering telecom equipment, mobile devices, optical fibre, R&D and next-generation 5G and 6G technologies.
Under a recently signed MoU, the Centre will provide ₹493 crore in 100% funding support for Phase I, while the Madhya Pradesh government has provided around 170 acres of land free of cost along with investor incentives.
A special purpose vehicle (SPV) has been established to implement the project, with the Madhya Pradesh government holding 51% equity and the Department of Telecommunications holding the remaining 49%.
The Bengaluru investors’ meet is expected to connect the Gwalior project with the city’s established technology, electronics and telecom ecosystem and seek further investment commitments for manufacturing capacity, innovation and job creation.
